street storytelling workshop
From 17 April 2016 to 25 April 2016
Mahatat offered a storytelling workshops for 9 women and a man, a man that wanted to tell the world the story of his moustache. The workshop concluded with a chain of storytelling performances in Port Said’s streets. Led by El Warsha Theater Troupe members, the Director Shady Atef and writer Ahmed Shoukry worked on improving the participant’s storytelling performance through technical skills development in different disciplines. By the end of the workshop, artists became able to collectively find new ways to communicate with the public and create a different reality through their storytelling performance. As a whole, this experience engaged over 260 passersby from Port Said with the artists as storytelling requires a live audience – unlike written stories, which are read far from the writer.
