Mahatat for Contemporary Arts (Egypt) collaborates with the French Institute in Egypt, Goethe Institute in Egypt and Robert Bosch Foundation and Vuesch association (Germany) and Nomadways (France) to organize a circus residency and street art in the Nile Delta Region in Egypt.
From 27 September to 19 October, Circ’Us will bring together 15 French, German and Egyptian circus and street artists artistes, specialized in social circus, street theatre, acrobat, or physical theatre: will be based in Port Said for ten days, they will develop and implement a show together, then they will go on tour of nine representations in Port Said, in the Delta Nile, Alexandria and Cairo.
Circ’Us includes an important training component and circus initiation, through several activities organized in parallel with the residence and the tour: the artists will offer introductory workshops in circus arts to the children and youth of Port Said and training sessions for youth circus artists in Alexandria and Cairo. Each performance in the Delta region will also be preceded by entertainment for young audiences.
The Circ’Us project mobilizes a large network of Egyptian governmental and civil society organizations, the project is implemented in partnership with: the French Alliance of Port Said, Public Library of Port Said, Damanhour Public Library , Eish lel Nas associations, Rabi3 and i-Act (International Association for Creation & Training) in addition to Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School and the El-Genaina theater.
